Informed of the arrest of the Senegalese journalist Madiambal Diagne, the members of the Socialist International Africa Committee, meeting in Dakar on 12-13 July 2004, recalled the responsibilities of all democrats to safeguard and protect freedom of expression and the .freedom of the press in all countries of the continent, as an essential condition of democracy. Consequently, the members of the Africa Committee call for the immediate liberation of Madiambal Diagne.
