The Socialist International Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean expresses its full support for the efforts of the Venezuelan people and the Partido Acción Democrática to uphold democracy and its institutions and to respect human rights. It urges fellow parties in the region to be vigilant at the various international forums, to ensure that the Venezuelan government complies with the Agreements and Conventions it has signed to safeguard democracy in the country.
Equally, support is expressed for the demand being made for free union elections aimed at re-establishing the authorities of the Venezuelan Workers’ Confederation [Confederación de Trabajadores de Venezuela (C.T.V.)] and safeguarding the autonomy of Venezuelan universities.
